Audience Feedback - 1st Draft BEKI

After completing our first draft of our trailer I devised a short questionnaire to ask members of our class for their feed back and opinions.

Here are the results.

• 1. What was the overall impact of the trailer?

Person 1: "I felt the trailer created suspense and was thrilling"

Person 2: " It reminded me or Paranormal Activity, it was also scary"

Person 3: " Dark, mysterious and creepy"
Person 4: "Fast and intense"

• 2. Were you aware of the genre/style of the trailer?

Person 1: "the trailer clearly established the genre by the use of low lighting, candles, and screaming"

Person 2: " Yes"

Person 3: "I could see it was a modern horror film"
Person 4: "Yes, its teen horror".

• 3. What did you think of the font?

Person 1: " I think the font could be changed into a more suitable font which suited the genre. It was basic and did not fit the genre that well"

Person 2: " gothic and bold"

Person 3: " I didn't like the font of the captions, i felt it was too plain and think, I'm also not a great fan of the title font"
Person 4: "It could be creepier, but it wasn't bad".

• 4. What did you think of the editing?

Person 1: "the editing was fast paced and I liked the transitions between shots"

Person 2: " It was effective and fast"

Person 3: " Generally effective although I thought the opening shots were too slow particularly liked the ending"
Person 4: "Yeah it was good, cut together very well, like a music video, it's progressive".

• 5. What did you think could be improved?

Person 1: "firstly the font could be improved I also thought the narrative was unclear in certain parts."

Person 2: " The first scream should be longer as it cut away too quickly"

Person 3: "I think I need to identify with a character because i don't have someone to identify with, it's a little too general"
Person 4: "Show other characters more, other than the crazy lady".

• 6. What did you think of the opening?

Person 1: "The opening was good as it created atmosphere and a sense of foreboding"

Person 2: " A good contrast between the change and day to night, the mood rapidly changed and I was not expecting this"

Person 3: "It was okay but I couldn't hear it, it may be better with the sound up so I could get the sense of foreboding."
Person 4: "Good, good use of props, but some focus issues".

• 7. What did you think of the ending?

Person 1: "The candle blowing out is effective and I think it will be great with sound"

Person 2: " It makes me want to see more and find out what happens next"

Person 3: "Tremendous!"
Person 4: "Good pinnacle".

• 8. What did you think of the mirror shot?

Person 1: "At first I thought the mirror was accidentally in shot but once the idea was explained to me I thought it was effective although initially this was unclear to me."

Person 2: "I could tell the use of the mirror was intended in the trailer, I felt it was successful"

Person 3: "first time i saw it, it threw me because i wasn't prepared for someone to be filming in the film. But it's an effective shot although I do think the girls reaction needs to be worked on a little bit."
Person 4: "At first it seemed out of place, but the reveal fixes it, so yeah it was good."
